Voting on VR's new special wage agreement with SA, The Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise, on behalf of Icelandair's domestic flights begins at 12:00 noon on Thursday, April 11, 2024 and ends at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, April 16. All members of VR who work according to this agreement have the right to vote.

The Fishing Card is now available

Valid VR members in good standing can now purchase the Fishing Card for the summer of 2024. The Fishing Card provides almost unlimited access to several water areas across the country. A manual where you can find instructions and rules comes with each card.

VR’s Contingency Fund

Deposits have been made to the VR Contingency Fund following VR's Annual General Meeting on 21 March. On My pages you can see your standing in the fund. Please note that the reimbursement of each VR member depends on his rights credit. At VR‘s Annual General Meeting it was agreed that the total contribution to the VR Contingency Fund fund will be a total of ISK 1.050 million for the year 2023.

VR´s Annual General Meeting was held yesterday, Thursday 21 March 2024. The Board's annual report and the union's financial statements for 2023 were presented and approved. VR's Board submitted 17 proposals for legal amendments, which were all approved, one of which was amended at the meeting.

Warnings issued about a bill on meat processing facilities

VR, the Consumers´ Association of Iceland, the Federation of Trade and Services (SVÞ) and the Icelandic Federation of Trade (FA) strongly warn against the adoption of a bill on the exemption of meat processing facilities from competition laws. The associations agree with the assessment of the Icelandic Competition Authority that the likely result of the approval of the bill would be an increase in the price of meat products and thus increased inflation.

Voting on the new collective agreements between VR, the Confederation of Icelandic Enterprises, and the Federation of Icelandic Employers began at 10:00 this morning, Monday, March 18, 2024. The voting will continue until 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 21.

VR has published a calculator on the website that shows the possible benefits of the newly concluded collective wage agreements for members. Members enter their own assumptions into the calculator, e.g. family size, salary, amount of rent or mortgage, and see what effect the collective agreement and government intervention may have on the situation.

VR will present new collective agreements with the Icelandic Confederation of Business (SA) and the Icelandic Federation of Trade (FA) at a union meeting Monday 18 March. The meeting will be held in the Háteigur Hall at the Grand Hotel and starts at 12:00 noon. Light refreshments will be served.
