VR‘s reception closed due to COVID-19

The reception of VR union will be closed from Friday, July 31. This is due to an increase of COVID-19 cases in Iceland and while this is being contained VR will only offer members services remotely. This is done in the interest of members‘ wellbeing.

There is a lot to think about when you lose your job and it can be very important to keep paying membership fees to VR to preserve rights, e.g. in the vocational fund and the sick pay fund. To continue payments to VR, a certain box needs to be filled out with VR in the application for unemployment benefits.

VR´s Annual General Meeting

VR's Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. The board’s annual report was read and the annual accounts submitted for approval. VR’s earnings increase by ISK 552 million from the year before, with operating revenues totaling ISK 4.5 billion and operating expenses at ISK 4.7 billion and revenues at the disposal of ISK 927 million.

Remember your wages should increase in next month‘s wage payment

According to VR´s collective agreements, wage increases took effect from April 1st. For those who are paid according to the VR pay scales the increase is 24.000 ISK pr. month while general wages shall increase by 18.000 ISK

VRs holiday cottages and rental apartments will be closed until the end of ban on gatherings

Due to the recommendations from the Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management (Almannavarnir), VR will close all the union´s holiday cottages and rental apartments until the ban on gatherings has been lifted on May 4th. Bookings will reopen on May 5th.

The reception of VR union will be closed from Monday, March 16. The Icelandic authorities have declared the highest alert level as a result of COVID-19, an emergency phase, and VR will only offer members services remotely. This is done in the interest of members‘ wellbeing.

The Icelandic authorities have issued a ban on mass gatherings, of 100 people or more, as of Monday March 16 for a period of four weeks. The ban also stipulates that people maintain a certain distance from one another.
