VR supports charity organizations during the holidays

As we have done in recent years, VR supports the work of various charity organizations during the holidays. This year it was decided to support the National Church's Relief Work by two million ISK and the Icelandic Red Cross by two million ISK.

Changed submission deadline for fund applications

VR members, please take note that due to the holidays, applications for grants from, the VR Sick Pay fund, VR Contingency fund and the Vocational Training funds, must be submitted no later than Friday 16 December in order for you to receive payment of grants before the end of the year.

Wage negotiations have been unsuccessful

VR declared last night, Thursday 24. November 2022, that the wage negotiations with the Confederation of Icelandic Employers (SA) have been unsuccessful. The unions referred the wage negotiations with SA to the the State Conciliation and Mediation Officer (SCMO) on 14. November 2022.

VR/LÍV and SGS refer wage negotiations to the State Conciliation and Mediation Officer

The wage agreement, which was signed in 2019, expired at the end of last month. VR, LÍV - The Commercial Federation of Iceland and The Federation of General and Special workers in Iceland (SGS) have been closely involved in negotiations with The Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise (SA) for the last few weeks and tried to reach a new agreement.

Lunch meeting on the shortening of the working week

VR invites you to an open lunch meeting on the shortening of the working week next Tuesday, November 15. between 12:30 - 2:20pm. The meeting will be held in the Háteigur room at the Grand Hotel. A light lunch is available from 12:00 noon. Among the speakers at the meeting will be Juliet Schor, a professor at Boston College, and Charlotte Lockhart, one of the founders and CEO of 4-Day Week Global, who will talk about a pilot project for a 4-day working week.

As we recently reported, the largest national associations of workers in the labour market, Landssamband Íslenzkra verzlunarmanna (LÍV) and Starfsgreinasamband Íslands (SGS), decided to join forces in negotiations with Samtök atvinnulífsins (SA) on a new collective wage agreement.
