The VR board approved the allocation rules for Blær housing foundation at its meeting on January 13, 2024. These rules outline the operations of Blær and define the procedures for apartment allocation, eligibility criteria, pet ownership, and more. Registration for the Blær waiting list will open at the end of April 2024.
What is Blær?
Blær is a new housing foundation established by VR and its sister foundation, Bjarg housing foundation, which is a joint venture between ASÍ and BSRB. The foundation was allocated a plot at Silfratjörn in Úlfarsárdal in 2021, and ground was broken with regards to the construction of two apartment buildings on August 10, 2023. A total of 36 apartments will be available in these first two buildings, with apartment handovers starting at the end of 2024. Blær aims to enhance housing security for VR members and their families by offering high-quality housing and affordable rent through a non-profit organization.
