Seminar for VR members - Cyber Security Awareness

This seminar is designed for everyone who uses computers or smart devices in their daily life. The seminar is taught in simple and easy to learn language, and no specific computer skills are required.

The seminar will cover practical topics such as:

  • Password Management
  • Multi-factor-authentication (MFA)
  • Critical Thinking
  • Links, Attachment, USB Drives
  • Scams
  • Fear, uncertainty, doubt (FUD)
  • Risks Profiling and Threat Protection

Simple aspects of data privacy will also be covered, including what digital footprints we leave online and how to minimize them. This seminar will be taught in English.

Sigurður Bjarnason is a cybersecurity expert with decades of experience in computing and specialized knowledge in information technology. Sigurður worked as a network engineer at Microsoft for many years, as a data center technician for major internet service providers, and in recent years, he has developed a new approach to enhancing cybersecurity for individuals with limited computer experience.

The course will take place in the VR hall on the 9th floor of the House of Commerce, Kringlan 7. You can also attend via Teams. Breakfast will be provided for those who attend in-person.Select your preferred option above.
