What is being voted on?
Article 20 of the VR bylaws governs the election of the Chairman, Board, Alternate Board, and Consultative Council. In the 2025 general election, voting will be conducted for the Chairman and seven seats on the Board for a four-year term and three seats on the Alternate Board for a two-year term in individual elections.
The bylaws state that the Board and Consultative Council must propose a list of 41 individuals for the Consultative Council for a four-year term. The Nominating Committee of the Board and Consultative Council has called for individual candidacies for this list. If alternative lists for the Consultative Council are submitted, an election between the lists will be held.
How to Submit a Candidacy
According to Article 5 of the VR bylaws, all full members of VR are eligible for candidacy for representative roles within the union, with the exceptions outlined in Article 3. This includes minors aged 15 and under, self-employed individuals, and those retired due to age or disability, who are not eligible.
Additionally, Article 11 of the VR bylaws stipulates that Board members must be in control of their financial affairs, fulfill general eligibility requirements, have not received a prison sentence for a punishable offense in the past five years and not own more than a 5% share in a limited liability company operating within the union’s scope. Candidates for the Board are required to submit a completed form with their candidacy, detailing their eligibility and affiliated parties. See the documents below for further details.
Written endorsements from 50 VR members are required for individual candidacies for Chairman, and 15 endorsements for individual candidacies for Board seats. For an alternative list to the Consultative Council to be validly submitted against the Nomination Committee’s list, 300 VR member endorsements and written consent from all candidates on the list are required.
Templates for endorsement forms and the candidacy eligibility form can be found below. These forms can be completed online and printed, but they must be signed and submitted to the Election Committee.
