Workplace, Job and Education
I have worked at Skómeistarinn in Smáralind since 2011.
I have been a VR member since I started working at the age of fifteen.
In 2008, I completed my journeyman’s examination in shoemaking from what was then the Reykjavík Technical College, now the Technical College. By that time, I had been working in and around shoe workshops since I entered the labor market. I have also held various other jobs related to commerce throughout my career.

Experience in Union Activities

I was a board member of the National Association of Shoemakers from 2009 to 2021. I have served on the VR Board from 2020 to 2025, as an alternate board member from 2020 to 2021, and as a board member from 2021 to 2025.
I have been a member of the Icelandic Sustainability Council since 2022. I was an alternate member of the ASÍ Central Board from 2023 to 2024 and a committee member of the ASÍ Health Committee since 2023.

I have actively participated in VR’s work and, in recent terms, have been a member of the following VR committees:

  • Executive Board of the Holiday Fund
  • Housing Committee
  • Environmental Committee
  • Grants Committee
  • Future Committee
  • Executive Board of the VR Sick Pay Fund

Additionally, I have held the following positions:

  • Chair of the VR Grants Committee (2020-2022)
  • Chair of the Executive Board of the VR Sick Pay Fund (2022-2023)
  • Chair of the Executive Board of the VR Holiday Fund (since 2024)

Key Focus Areas

  • Increased purchasing power
  • Completing the QR code feedback system for holiday cottages to improve the experience for our members
  • Supporting members facing mental health challenges
  • 30-day leave entitlement for all
  • Sick leave rights for parents of children up to 18 years old
  • Increased support for job loss
  • More educational material for young people in the labor market
  • Direct grants, e.g., for fitness, dental care, and psychological services
  • Advancing my proposal at the ASÍ Congress to make December and holiday bonuses tax-free in the next collective agreements

I see a challenging journey ahead but am ready to take on these challenges with full force and work tirelessly to achieve VR’s goals.

I am a union member with a clear vision for the future, committed to my values and the rights of working people. If elected, I will work to ensure that VR is a platform for respect, opportunities for progress, and an environment that supports members so they can thrive.

I ask for your vote so that together we can make a difference and build a brighter future for VR members.
