Workplace, job title and education
I work as a project manager at Húsasmiðjan ehf. and have held that position for three years. I have completed my university entrance exam and have some experience in university studies. I started my career as a young boy in the countryside; when I was old enough, I went to work for the summer at Akraneskaupstaður. I then got a job at Norðurál and stayed there for several years. I moved to Reykjavík in 2011 and got a job at Bananar ehf. I worked on a forklift at Eimskip. In 2018, I moved to Húsasmiðjan, where I have worked my way up from being on the floor to project management.

Experience in community engagement
In 2019, I made the decision to join the Socialist Party of Iceland and have been a candidate for them three times, in both government and municipal elections.
In 2023, I then made the decision to run for the Board of VR for the first time, and I was elected as an alternate and have therefore attended the vast majority of meetings that have been held. Ever since I fully joined the Board of VR, I have been involved in the establishment of VR’s Youth Council, served on various committees and I also took a seat in ASÍ’s Housing Committee.
Main focuses
Today, the collective wage agreements are free, and my main focus is to achieve the best possible results for VR’s members in the new agreements. I am convinced that the methods we have used in these agreements, where pressure is not only put on the economy, but also on the public administration as a whole, is much more successful for the public than flat wage increases that have been eaten up even before the agreement is signed.
As a retail worker, I believe I have a good connection with the circumstances of our people, and I am interested in continuing to work for our members and bring about changes that are significant not only for us, but for society as a whole.
