The role of a subdivision includes involvement in the common interests of employees within sectors/industries/regions, encouraging their education, and addressing employment terms issues Consultative Council The role of the Consultative Council is defined in Article 14 of the union’s laws. The Consultative Council shall advise the union's Board regarding various larger issues that arise in the union's operations. Shop stewards Shop stewards are contact persons between VR and the employer for the benefit of employees. The role of the shop steward is to be available to their colleagues, smooth communications with employers, communicate information and monitor that contracts are upheld in the workplace and that laws on the rights of employees are not violated.
